The faculty boasts leaders in many fields of public and private law, with a range of specialisations including environmental law and criminal law and justice. Find out more about our five main specialist groupings.
The Faculty of Law has always had a strong focus on criminal law and justice, and continues to be New Zealand’s leading faculty in this area.
The faculty has one of the world’s largest environmental law programmes with several courses offered at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
We have been developing strong international and comparative law programmes since the mid 1990s.
The Faculty of Law is home to the Research Centre for Business Law, which includes members of the Department of Commercial Law as well as the Faculty of Law.
The faculty has a core group of public lawyers, and also attracts visits from leading public law scholars from around the world.
