Profile

Joanna Manning’s principal teaching and research interests lie in the fields of health care law, torts and accident compensation. She is a contributing author of the textbook, Skegg and Paterson (eds), Medical Law in New Zealand (Brookers Thomson, 2006) and has published widely on issues of health law, policy, ethics. She is the lawyer member of NEAC, the national advisory committee on health and disability support services ethics to the Minister of Health. She was the consumer representative on the Medical Practitioners Disciplinary Committee for approx 10 years. Formerly, she worked as a prosecuting lawyer.
