Profile

Christopher Hare was brought up and educated in the United Kingdom. He read law at Trinity College, Cambridge and completed his post-graduate studies at Harvard Law School and Brasenose College, Oxford. Christopher was called to the English Bar in 1998 and practised in chambers specialising in commercial, company and banking law. During that time he appeared in the House of Lords and will shortly be appearing before the New Zealand Supreme Court. Before coming to New Zealand, Christopher was a law fellow at Jesus College, Cambridge. He joined the Auckland Law Faculty in 2005. He is currently editor of the New Zealand Law Review.

Christopher has given supervisions and lectures in the following areas: contract law, tort law, equity, company law, commercial law, banking law, international sales and finance, and the conflict of laws. His research focuses primarily on the commercial and banking law areas, in particular the international dimensions of these areas. Christopher is particularly interested in the trade finance area.
