The Faculty of Law welcomes applications from international students for admission to our postgraduate programmes. Any international student that holds the equivalent of a New Zealand LLB degree (one that entitles a student to practise law in their home country), with at least second-class honours, may apply to study at The University of Auckland postgraduate programme. More information on the admission requirements for our postgraduate programmes can be accessed on Programmes.

Student exchanges

If you are an international law student and your home university appears in the Auckland Abroad list of exchange partners, you may be eligible to study for one or two semesters at the Auckland Faculty of Law. You must apply through the international office at your home university.

More information about student exchanges can be accessed on 360° Auckland Abroad - student exchange.

But please contact the international office at your home university for information on application and selection requirements. International students studying for their first law degree should apply to enrol in our law elective courses.

Study abroad

Even if your home university does not appear in the Auckland Abroad list of exchange partners, you may wish to consider studying at our Faculty of Law as a study abroad student. "Study abroad" refers to inbound overseas students who pay tuition fees to The University of Auckland rather than to their home universities while studying for one or two semesters as part of their overseas law degree. International students studying for their first law degree should apply to enrol in our law elective courses.

The University of Auckland and the University of Melbourne have an agreement that allows postgraduate students  to take up to two courses offered at the other university's law faculty for credit towards their postgraduate diploma or degree at their home university. For more information about the Melbourne postgraduate exchange scheme please contact the student adviser.
