The School of Law offers free "Legal English for Starters" courses throughout the year. Whether your first language is English or not, and whether you are a "beginner" at law or a postgraduate student, you may need to improve your comprehension and your writing skills in law subjects.

Our faculty advisers are able to help you during your studies.
We have a Pasifika Academic Co-ordinator and support programmes for Pasifika students, as well as a Pouāwhina Māori who runs support programmes and gives advice to Maori students.
The Law Students' Society runs the Kensington Swan Mentoring Programme and supports LLB II students by pairing them with senior students for regular meetings. The senior student can answer questions about exam technique and study technique, law survival skills, what to read, and many other subjects. Keep a lookout for the sign-up sheets at the beginning of each year.
Located in the main quad, Student Central provides essential services for students. The University of Auckland is one of the few universities in the world that has such a facility, where the Student Association and University work in partnership out of a single location. If you are ever unsure of where to go, whom to ask about something, or are just a bit lost and lonely, Student Central should be your first port of call.
