Faculty of Law
Admission and enrolment
Information on this page is for returning students currently enrolled at The University of Auckland who want to change their existing programme (for example, applying for LLB Part II after a LLB Part I year, or changing from BA to BA /LLB).
If you are a new student please go to the Future undergraduates section of this website and see Admission and enrolment.
Another useful page for prospective students wanting to apply is the central Admission and enrolment page.
After being invited into a new programme, you will need to accept the offer. After you have accepted, you will be able to enrol in courses through Student Services Online. For help, call 0800 61 62 63 or visit the Student Information Centre at 22 Princes Street.
Enrolling in classes (for returning students)
If you are already accepted into the programme as a returning student, you can enrol in courses through Student Services Online. You can enrol in semester-long courses up until the end of the 2nd week of each semester. Double-semester courses can be enrolled in up until the end of the 4th week of the first semester. The Faculty of Law has limitations on enrolments in many of its courses so you should enrol early to avoid disappointment.
Adding and deleting courses
Students can add or delete semester-long courses without penalty, up until the end of the 2nd week of each semester. Double-semester courses can be added or deleted without penalty, up until the end of the 4th week of lectures in the first semester.
After these deadlines, subject to availability of places in a course, a late enrolment may be accepted upon payment of a late enrolment fee of $100.00 (incl. GST) per course. You will need to complete a Course Alteration Form (CAF) available from the Law Faculty Office. Having done that, you need to pay the late enrolment fee at the Cashier’s Office (Room 112 of the Clock Tower, 22 Princes Street). Then the form should be returned to the Enrolment & Systems Administrator (Room 3.04 of Law School).
After these deadlines, if you wish to cease attendance in a course, you may apply to withdraw from the course. Application must be made on the Course Alteration Form (CAF) available from the Faculty of Law office. The last date you can withdraw from semester-long courses is 3 weeks before the end of the lectures; the last day you can withdraw from double-semester courses is three weeks before the end of lectures in the 2nd Semester; the last day you can withdraw from summer school courses is one week before the end of lectures. The course will remain on your academic record and show as a "withdrawal". Tuition fees are not refundable in the case of "withdrawals".
