Biography

Stephen Penk has an extensive background in University administration since 1977, including ten years as Law Faculty Registrar (1984-1994) and, since 2002, as a Law School  Associate Dean in various capacities (Academic, Administration and International).

In his current role of Associate Dean (Academic) - or Dean of Students - he has responsibility for admissions (undergraduate and postgraduate programmes), enrolments, assessments and regulatory matters.

Stephen teaches Legal Method (course director), Torts, Introduction to Common Law, Legal Writing, and Privacy Law (undergraduate and postgraduate courses).

His research interests include vicarious liability and civil remedies, as well as the various aspects of privacy law.

Stephen is co-author of the student-oriented text New Zealand Legal Method Handbook (published in 2014) and of Privacy Law in New Zealand (published in 2010 and now under revision).
