The Stout Shield is Auckland’s oldest and most prestigious mooting competition. The winners go on to represent Auckland nationally and if successful, they represent New Zealand in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, DC in April 2018.

This year, all Part III and IV students are eligible to apply.

To apply, please complete the application form, either below, from the Student Centre Reception or the University of Auckland Mooting Society (, by Friday 10 March at noon. You will be informed of your selection by 15 March.

Written submissions will be due on Thursday 23 March, with preliminary rounds in the week starting 27 March and semi-finals on Wednesday 5 April. The final will be on Tuesday 11 April in the historic Court Room No. 1 at the Auckland High Court (subject to formal confirmation from the High Court).
