International arbitrator and lawyer Lucy Reed spoke in Auckland on the topic of New Zealand’s investment treaty arbitration and the current Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations at a luncheon on Friday 9 November.

Lucy Reid was in New Zealand to give the New Zealand Law Foundation Dispute Settlement Lecture in Wellington. She is global co-head of the international arbitration group in the Hong Kong office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and is also former President of the American Society of International Law. Lunch was hosted by Professor David Williams QC and Bankside Chambers, together with the Auckland Faculty.

Next year the NZLF Dispute Settlement Lecture will be held in Auckland, and delivered by Professor Catherine Rogers of Penn State University. Professor Rogers specialises in the ethics of international arbitration and will also visit Wellington. The Law School thanks the Foundation for its funding, and also Associate Professor Petra Butler of Victoria University for establishing this new initiative as a collaboration between the two faculties.
